Getting Work

Fri May 29, 2009, 9:54 PM
I don't have a job yet but I'm starting to get plenty of side work to last me a while. I Been refinishing some deck furniture. I might be installing some cabinets in a garage. I just got a one today to build a fence. I was supposed to build a deck for my mom, but thats gonna be put off for a while since he didn't go to jail. At some point I have to build an easle for :icontheraptor-wolfy: who has been quite a good secretary for all of this.

Between all the work I'm going to see what I can do for frames and figure out pricing for them. My test frames will probably be seen on :icontheraptor-wolfy: Art work.

engine control management. Thats basically what I would have to learn. There are superchips that you can put into cars to improve performance. They use them in police cars. It is pretty cool. We actually hooked up my 86 dodge to a computer when I was having electrical problems. Came up it had a diode ripple which narrowed it down pretty quickley. Had it fixed in a half an hour.
Yeah, that's the cool thing of modern technology, it'd take you days to figure out the diode error by hand!

I never figured out how chiptuning worked, though.. I mean if someone can crank a 120HP engine up to 150HP, why didn't the manufacturer do that themselves to sell it for a higher price? Because to me, that seems like the manufacturer did a poor job at getting the most out of the least, aka wasting money

I think the manufactures restrict the power on pupose so people cant go so fast kill themselves or out run cops. In california where theres smog, youve got to be careful what you do performance wise or you wont pass emissions and you cant register your car.
Yeah that does make some sense.. I mean if an engine produces too much CO2, the easiest option would be to put a limiter on the engine to lower the emission

Although that's like downclocking a computer's CPU just because it's using too much electricity.. A complete waste of resources (why not use a smaller engine in the first place). Although I know by fact the car we have has an RPM limiter set at 6000 to prevent overheating because the engine cooling system was very poorly designed

My friends brand new car had a limiter on it.Its supposedly a sports car and I blew his doors off in my 86 dodge ram which is stock. Whats even more sad is that it was straight piped so there was no back pressure. Now that I've got the muffler on it its got a little bit more power.
